Captured Wind

Captured Wind

Soundtrack: The Wind - PJ Harvey

so fleeting as breath… Wind has no form, no weight, but here it lies captured in clay, in time, in porcelain white.

A moment that would disappear, now eternally still, frozen. The earth holds fast what the air would let go.

My hands shaped the base, turning, waiting, heavy. Stoneware clay, enriched with powders, colors from brown to grey to gold.

Soft porcelain dances above rough stoneware, dark, heavy. Like snow falling on bare ground, like dreams descending on reality.

The lid itself seems to undulate, as if the wind flows through, from light to dark, from fleeting to lasting.

Gold luster catches the light, small details that shimmer, memories of what moved in what now lies still.

But even captured wind moves. And perhaps that is the magic: not the holding, but the feeling… of what wants to be free.
