Charon

Charon

Soundtrack: The Host of Seraphim - Dead Can Dance

A silent crossing, suspended between two worlds.

In Greek mythology, Charon is the ferryman who guides souls across the river Styx to the realm of the dead — a figure who belongs to neither side, moving endlessly between departure and arrival.

This piece reflects that liminal space. The lid becomes the river itself, textured and still, a surface that both conceals and reveals. Above it rests the fragile form of the boat — an echo of passage, shaped by fire, air, and the quiet uncertainty of creation.

The colours are born of chance. Fire, atmosphere and mineral react in their own rhythm, leaving traces that no hand can fully control. The greens recall mosses and fungi — small lives that emerge from decay — while the muted earth tones speak of time’s slow erosion. Together, they mirror the delicate balance between life and loss.

The surface bears the marks of transformation: rough, scarred, alive with shadow.

Charon becomes a meditation on impermanence and surrender — on what fades, what endures, and how beauty often appears where control ends.
