Soundtrack: White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane
In my work, I explore the hidden worlds that unfold when we pause to observe the small. This ceramic object emerged from my fascination with the microcosmos that plays out beneath our feet, in the shadows of tree trunks and between fallen leaves.
The spherical body carries the texture of my own living environment - every ridge and groove tells the story of growth, seasons, and nature's quiet strength. From this landscape, delicate mushrooms rise, their stems fragile yet determined. I gilded their caps because they remind me of little lanterns illuminating a secret world, as if elves had lit them for their nocturnal wanderings.
The white element on the lid is a direct impression of birch bark - a fragment of the outside world that I captured in porcelain. This white form has something of a portal about it, an opening to alternative perceptions. Jefferson Airplane's 'White Rabbit' accompanies this work because both the song and my sculpture explore how we can experience reality from different dimensions of consciousness.
With this work, I invite a different way of seeing. What happens when we view the world from an ant's perspective? What magic reveals itself when we focus our gaze on the seemingly insignificant? These fairy lights are my attempt to capture that sense of wonder, where music and ceramics together make a journey to the marvelous possible.
